Eterm error

Whenever I start eterm as a normal user I get the error
/dev/ttyp0: Operation not permitted
at the top of the Eterm window. Eterm still functions normally (as far as i can tell), it just gets annoying. I can open Eterm as root and it's just fine. This started after i recompile my kernel. So far I've tried chmod 777 ttyp0 but I still get the error (i realize that is insecure so i changed it back since it didn't work anyhow). I've also recompile and installed eterm, but no luck. Any Ideas?

Yeah! I fixed the problem. I apparently didn't compile in support for the /dev/pts system. I found out that when Eterm started it also gave an error about something called grantpt. I looked up grantpt in the man pages and it said it was part of Unix98 pty support. I remembered that from my kernel compile so i went back and re-enabled it (i.e. Unix98 pty support). I then found out if that was enabled support for the /dev/pts system must also be enabled. I enabled that and recompiled, etc. Now everything is great.
