Question EssentialPIM does not check mail under Wine

http://i59.tinypic.com/33uao3k.png

Hi

I am running EssentialPIM (Outlook alternative) on Linux Mint 15 Olivia Cinnamon 32-BIT.

EssentialPIM runs well except for checking mail. How can I correct this?

i take it for some reason you can not or will not use a native linux mail client
mint comes with :
evolution
checkgmail
and Thunderbird

wine only goes so far
some things will never work well

I can say the same about Evolution and Thunderbird. Both are buggy and have quirks making them a joke in the face of Outlook. Thunderbird falls over backward when given multiple mail accounts to handle and stops checking mail altogether - this has been the case over a number of years and both its Linux and Windows versions suffer from this. Evolution gets corrupted after a while and stop processing calendar entries, etc. If these were even remotely as capable as Outlook, I would not have had the need to go after another PIM. Truth is that EssentialPIM works better than any of these, but sadly only on Windows.

Some people are stupid enough to write things such as "Evolution is a full Linux alternative to Outlook." My word; have they ever worked with Outlook? I guess not! Thunderbird comes a tad closer when add-ins are installed but still is no match for Outlook.

well if you NEED as in a must use "outlook" or some other Microsoft clone of it

you really might want to run it on a Microsoft OS , like Windows7 or 8.1

but there is also
claws-mail
gnome-gmail
kmail

and there is always " Lotus Notes " , now called "IBM notes"

I am using Thunderbird for my Gmail account and Claws for the remainder. None of the options you mention are even remotely in the league of Essential Pim or Outlook. I have a legit product key on the laptop I am using but no media to install it from. Broadband access is limited and a Vista download is in excess of 2GB.

I cannot understand why the world of Linux is so poorly endowed with proper business applications.

Thunderbird and Evolution are crippleware that falls over backward when given a full day's job. Thunderbird stops checking mail when multiple accounts are used and Evolution corrupted itself so many times in the past that I can't keep count. Either, even when they are working, are lacking in terms of features and functionality.

Linux needs a better app, such as Essential PIM, to be ported this way.
