Errors installing netcat ?? help plz

I downloaded netcat 110 and have problems installing.

In the readme it says to use "make linux" in the directory,

When I do this, I get an error and it exits the install.

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status.

then it proceeds with two errors and exits to the prompt.

It looks like I'm missing a lib....could that be? Please help if you have the time.

Try searching rpmfind.net or checking your install discs for the mandrake package of netcat plz

Ok...I finally figured it out. I had to install glibc, then I got more errors. It turns out you have to comment out line 1319 in order to suppress the res init error.

How did you find line 1319 because I'm having the same res_init error? and is that in the make file?
