error while executing alsaconf

i have emerged alsa (alsa-utils, alsa-tools, alsa-lib, alsa-driver) on my gentoo linux but when i try to run "alsaconf" to configure my soundcard i get this error:

/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 33: [: too many arguments
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 35: [: too many arguments
modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
modinfo: snd: no module by that name found
which: no dialog in (/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin)
which: no whiptail in (/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin)
Error, dialog or whiptail not found.

does enybody knows what could be the cause?

This is a bug in old versions of the alsa-utils ebuild. It (alsaconf, really) depends on dialog, which isn't listed as a dependancy so if you haven't installed dialog manually you will see this error. Type emerge dialog to be able to use alsaconf.

I filed a bug about this and it's fixed in recent releases (1.0.4 and later).
