Error when installing RedHat 9 and Fedora
I've been trying to get RedHat installed for the past few days. I downloaded the images for Fedora, checked the MD5 sums and they all matched up. Started the install, and got to where it started copying files. Within a minute, I get the following error every time:

Figured I'd at least get the box up and running and downloaded RedHat 9. Checked the MD5 sums and once again, they all matched up. RH 9 started copying files, and very quickly after it started, I had an all too familiar window pop up: Quote:
P3 1.0GHz 384 meg ram Voodoo Banshee video card (AGP) Tyan S1854 Trinity 400 motherboard (Via chipset) Maxtor 40 gig hard drive (formatted just prior to attempted install) I partitioned the drive as follows: /boot: 250 meg /home: 19.5 gig /usr: 8 gig /: 4 gig /var: 4 gig /tmp: 1 gig /swap: 1 gig I'm really jammed up here, and I'd like to get this thing up and running ASAP. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
the only thing i could offer would be try burning at 2x or 4x speeds. i know my laptop CDRW with low end media i have to burn at 2x in order for an ISO to work properly, on my higher end desktop i still cant get a successful burn faster then 8x with the lower end media that i use.
i just use the junk media from compUSA or SAM's club or Costco. at 10cents a CD who cares if i have to toss a few in the trash can, and on occation i will find them as low as 5cents a CD. with the better media types (yes you will pay much more for them) and a higher end computer with a higher end CDRW you can burn successful ISOs as fast as the CD will take it. other then that last sujestion i could offer would be go buy the fedora core 1 or 2 books as they come with the CDs formated and created by RH and if they dont work, then it is 100% on your computer bad hardware. |
I had the same problem, so when it asked if I wanted to check the install disks I said yes and after it checked all three disks it worked. Don't ask me why.
Good Luck |
