Error running displayconfig-gtk

When I try to run displayconfig-gtk, instead I get this message:

gobject.GError: Icon 'video-display' not present in theme

To me it seems as though the program refuses to run because it can't find an icon. Can I force it to run anyway?

Well, I've gotten it to start by creating "video-display.png" icons and adding them to my icon folders.

However, now I find that any and all changes I try to make result in this message when tested:

The configuration was not successful

Even simple changes like reducing the resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 fail in this manner. In fact, if I click "Test" without changing any settings at all, I still get this message.
