Error: python-libs conflicts with python

I inherited a Red Hat system here at work that when I'm trying to update is giving me a dependencies error.

Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package python-libs.i386 0:2.4.3-44.el5_7.1 set to be updated
--> Processing Conflict: python-libs conflicts python < 2.4.3-32.el5
--> Processing Conflict: python-libs conflicts python < 2.4.3-32.el5
--> Restarting Dependency Resolution with new changes.
--> Running transaction check
---> Package python.i386 0:2.4.3-44.el5_7.1 set to be updated
--> Processing Conflict: python-libs conflicts python < 2.4.3-32.el5
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
python-libs-2.4.3-44.el5_7.1.i386 from rhel-i386-server-5 has depsolving problems
--> python-libs conflicts with python
Error: python-libs conflicts with python

I have been able to clean up all of the other dependency errors the system was getting but cannot figure this one out.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say that python-libs-<version> is dependent on python-<version> and you have python-<older_version>. Try updating python and python-libs simultaneously.

Thank you that did work. I was not able to update both at the same time. Had't thought of trying both at the same time yesterday. Had beat my head getting the others cleaned up that this one was getting the better of me. Thanks.
