I have an old RH7.2 installation (dual boot with W2K) that I have not touched for a while, as the GRUB boot loader got messed up and I couldn't get in to Linux (and the fact that I have not had the time to look into getting it working again ... No I didn't have a boot disk!!)
Anyway, I have just got hold of the RAMF-118.EXE Linux Rescue BootDisk from
here and successfully booted it up. (Passing the following comments to the kernel:
linux root=/dev/hda11 init 3
Its all going swimmingly, mounting the root, boot, swap etc. and leaves me at the sh# prompt.
I have changed to the /sbin folder and executed grub to install it, but get as far as:
- Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a long time.
- Error opening terminal: linux
I have done a search on this error msg both here and on yahoo, and it references a fix of "sybolic linking" to a terminal database or something??
Can anyone enlighten me as to where my "terminal database" might reside on my old 7.2 system, and how I go about linking to it.
Many thanks in advance.
