Error on 'apt-get upgrade'

hi there,

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct forum here, but since apt-get is an application, I'm sure it's definetely worth trying here.

I haven't run apt-get for a while now and just today I hopped on it and ran

$ apt-get update

things went just fine
then I tried

$ apt-get upgrade

it checks and sees which packages I could upgrade, it asks me if I wanted to download 17 packaged that are upgradeable

I went ahead and said [Y]

it started to download them all and once It started to install those packages, I keep getting this same error and the apt-get upgrade process aborts. Can anyone help me and tell me what I'm supposed to do here to the point where I can use apt-get again to upgrade my packages? I would hate to have to go through downloading them all invidivually and update them that way...

Here's the error I'm getting:

Code:
...
  sane-backends sane-backends-devel slocate squid subversion subversion-devel
  sysstat tcpdump utempter xmms-crossfade xvidcore xvidcore-static zebra
The following packages have been kept back
  galeon gstreamer-plugins gstreamer-plugins-devel gthumb libpostproc mozilla
  mozilla-chat mozilla-devel mozilla-dom-inspector mozilla-js-debugger
  mozilla-mail mozilla-nspr mozilla-nspr-devel mozilla-nss mozilla-nss-devel
  mplayer sylpheed
134 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 17 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/309MB of archives.
After unpacking 1609kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] Y
Executing RPM (-Uvh)...

E: Sub-process /bin/rpm returned an error code (255)

I already tried to move libxvidcore.so to another folder and run it all over again (I even went ahead and did updatedb &) and yet I still keep getting the same error. Please advise!
