error : no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

When trying to configure Xcdroast on FC2 I get the following response:

[dagan@194-109 xcdroast-0.98alpha15]$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

Where do I unpack the tar ball?

Where is this $PATH?

How can I change it?

I know I have gcc 3.3.3

I tried reading the readme file and got to the above point. Where did I go wrong?

Look for other applications similar to Xcdroast, and unpack the tarball in the same top-level directory they're in.
PATH is a variable used by bash to tell it which directories to look in for executables. Example: if you give the command 'ls', bash will look through all the directories in your PATH until it finds the ls executable.
To add gcc to your path, open a terminal and issue the command 'locate gcc | less', and scroll through the list until you find the location of the gcc executable. Write down the path; something like /usr/bin/gcc. Then, give this command: export PATH="$PATH:/usr/bin/gcc" That will add gcc to your PATH.
You can also edit /etc/ld.so.conf to add /usr/bin/gcc and make it globally available to all users.
