As far as I know, mmount will mount a ms-dos disk which, IIRC, uses a fat filesystem instead of the newer ntfs. Why don't you use mount with the same parameters?

Shouldn't it be:

Code:
mount -t ntfs /dev/hdb1 /home/omar/d
I am not sure if ntfs is in the standard kernel.

As I see it, you mounted it alright but it says it's read-only file system. And that's normal, unless you have NTFS write support enabled in your kernel. Try a 'ls -al /home/omar/d' after the mount command to see if it really gets mounted. You should get the directory listing.
