which user id ?

I think it's a security alert features added by RH server...(OpenBSD have this too)...

Check your /etc/syslog.conf...and should be a line matching `/dev/console', uncomment it should do the tricks.

Since you sure it's normal...

perhaps, some added security features by RH server...

check the `cron job', `swatch' or any security alerts utilities isn't undesirely running on your system...

Which `UID' it prompt the `/var/log/messages', does it prompt for others user too? Check to see if the particular `UID' is reserved for some services or purpose.

feel free to post your `/etc/syslog.conf'.

p/s: since it's every 10 mins, I believe it's some sort of security alert ulitities.
