Error message while attempting Wine install
I've received the following error while attempting to install any additional software (wine or libdvdcss2). Any ideas as to how to get around this?
Thanks in advance - Scott E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it? |
if u try to install with apt-get install on ubuntu or debian:
"sudo apt-get install package" will help probably if not tell us how u tried to install. |
You are logged in as root while trying to install these programs, right?
What Linux are you using? |
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm currently using Ubuntu Dapper 6.06. I received the error when logged in as root. I couldn't log into Gnome as root so I had to use an alternate session. Not sure of where to go from here. Scott |
you shouldnt login as root in gnome anyway. on ubuntu the "sudo" command is used a lot. it asks for a password then executes the command as if you were logged in as root...
