Unhappy Error message when makin kernel

Hi,
Im trying to update my kernel to version 2.6.7 but when I start make install I get this error message:

"Looks like theres a problem, the default vmlinuz version is not the same as the initrd which means you have a mdk kernel and not a mdk initrd which may give you trouble"

What does this mean and how can I deal with it??
Thanks,
Colm.

well you can try building initrd.img with the initrd tools (man mkinitrd will tell you more) as it is compressed part of the kernel and modules that are preloaded at boot time but in general it is not needed if you install on a harddrive so don't worry.

you shouldn't have initrd=... in your lilo or if are having trouble you could pass the option noinitrd on Lilo boot i.e.

boot: Linux noinitrd

If everything else is set up as it should than you should be able to boot with the new kernel

regards
