u can get a suse rpm of amule (it uses the edonkey network) from here http://www.amule.org/ make sure u install the wx and wxGTK packages in the downloads section
When I try to install Amule.org using Yast2....the application tell me to input Suse 9.2 CD ver 4 (That works) but.... than I ask me install Suse 8.1 CD ver 1.... I do not have Suse 8.1 CD ver 1.... I have all the CD for Suse 9.2 (5 CD's).... How do I get around this message?
i don't even know what expat is. but with most programs that are source code just type
tar xvzf <filename> to extract the files or
tar xvjf if its a bz2 file
./configure
make
make install
u could try installing the amule rpms like this, so u won't have anymore dependency problems
rpm -Uvh --nodeps
I'm using fedora core 3. I have the same problem. Expat is already the latest version. I cannot use apt-get or yum to install. Apt-get gives an error saying it cannot solve the libexpat problem. rpm --nodeps does install no problem, *BUT* apt-get then has a problem with it being installed and sort of forces a removal. donkeyclc is there but it won't let ed2k exist. Reason stems back to libexpat. Quite irritating, I wish it could be solved.
I too had the same exact error message with Suse 9.2. When I looked at the expat rpm package contents on the SUSE 9.2 DVD it has libexpat.so.0.5.0 listed instead of libexpat.so.1.??? I was trying to use version expat that is on the DVD (A64) so that I can compile the edonkey gui. I was wondering if it is a problem with the 64 bit version. I am not sure what version that has what ed2k-gtk-gui-0.6.3-2 is looking for. Is there a way to test out expat to see if it runs? Or any ideas how to fix this would be helpful.
What then is the best way to get rid of the libexpat.so.1 dependency issues with Susu 9.2? There seem to be so may choices for this file that I am confused.
