Error message at startup

I jsut updated my linux kernel, form 2.4.21 to 2.6.12. I'm using suse 9. pro and now, when i start up i get an error message taht says

Inconsiistency detected by ld.so: rtld.c: 1250: dl_main: Assertion'(void *) ph->p_vaddr == _rtld_local_ _dl_sysinfo_d so' failed

it says that 3 times and then it says Kernel panic - not syncing: vfs: unable to mount root fs on unknown - block(3,7)

then a little below that it says

[<c01012b1>] kernel_thread_helper tox5/ox14

could someone help me find out what's wrong and what i need to fix in my next kernel update?
