Error installing VLC in YDL6 on PS3

I've been following this guide here

I followed all the steps to the letter (I think

) I get all the way to the end and when I type the command

yum install vlc

I end up with the message

9 packages excluded due to repository protections Nothing to do

Sorry for being such a noob, but I have no idea what that means. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance!

I'd love to help you Masta, I'm even a fellow Canuk, but I don't much about yum-based systems. Doesn't yum give you any more information to work with than what you posted?
Personally, I prefer to compile vlc myself from sources and I would happy to help you if you want to try that.

Otherwise try and post whatever info you have regarding the failure to install the vlc package. I assume you're using a cli and not a gui, right?
