error installing openfire


hi,

i was trying to install openfire on centos 6.2, downloaded rpm, installed installed fine, installed mysql and created a database with userand password only for openfire.

the thing is , afte restarting openfire, i opened browser and hit http://localhsot:9090 to start webbased installer, in the second step it asked me for java mysql driver database name etc, i given it but it gives error message that it can not contact database check /var/logs/error.log, but i could nt find the path anyware. I also installed mysql-connector-java, still the same,

There's no issue using the embedded database.. but I suppose it depends on how many users you expect to support. Have you read this page? .. it may help: http://www.igniterealtime.org/builds...ion-guide.html

hi kbp,

ur are right, but i just want to install it, want to resolve the error, finally i did it. issue was i was accessing web installer from other system in the lan and specifying ip then giving error, i tried from the same system's brower where i installed openfire , then it's working.

thank you. so final thing is if any one get's
this issue using mysql, just try both LOCALHOST and IPADDRESS, still error then log in to openfire server using GUI,then continue instalation using browser.
