Question error installing firefox

i have been trying to install firefox 1.0 on redhat linux 6.2. after doing the following:

# gzip -d firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz

# tar xvf firefox-1.0.installer.tar

# cd firefox-installer

[root@localhost firefox-installer] # ./firefox-installer

i get the following error message:

./firefox-installer-bin: error in loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

what does the above mean and what should be done?

i already searched for an rpm of libgtk-x11 but i could not find any.

thanks in advance!

The problem is your running Redhat 6.2. Your going to need a major upgrade overhaul. Your packages on that system are probably 4 years plus on being outdated with Firefox. That gtk error is just the first part of it.. I'm sure if you even got gtk upgraded, you'd be hit with the next shared lib its going to be looking for.
