Error inserting lockd: Cannot allocate memory - Linux 2.6.13.2

I am unable to load lockd module with the above error message. Searching the web I found, that similar problem was reported on sparc64 for some 2.5 kernels and there exists a patch for it, but it got merged into the kernel long ago.
My box has Pentium Celeron processor, vanilla kernel compiled with gcc-2.95.
Am I missing something in my kernel configuration? (www<dot>iceberg<dot>pl/.config)

i assume since you are using gcc 2.95 this is an older system
try just as a long shot to look in /etc/modprobe.conf
or whatever it's called for you and remove any trailing white space after any of your added lines like for nvidia driver or something
