Error in RPC Connection in RHEL5

Hi All,

I am using clnt_create function which is returning me zero as client ID. Below is the function call
"clnt_ = ::clnt_create(theHost, DNSERVER_PROG, DNSERVER_VER, "tcp");"

I am suspecting that this problem is coming becuase RPC Server or RPCbind process is not running in my machine.I tried google to find the RPM package for RHEL5 (It is there only for Fedora and Mandriva) but i was not able to find it. Please let me know if there any support of RPC package is there for RHEL5.

That functionality is provided by portmap in RHEL for a while now...you may also want to see if rpcinfo is available. RPC problems can also be caused by firewall/selinux settings, so check those first.

And, since you're using RHEL5, have you called Red Hat support??? Since you're paying for RHEL, they can help you with such questions, and easily give you links to download what you need, or tell you how to install it online.
