Unhappy error compiling WineX from CVS

I cant get my winex started and compiled, anyone knows how come?

I downloaded it like this

typ in console
cvs -dserver:cvs@cvs.transgaming.org:/cvsroot login

password : cvs

again in console
cvs -z3 -dserver:cvs@cvs.transgaming.org:/cvsroot co winex

a new folder winex created with the compiling source

installing:
./tools/wineinstall

the installatation went smootly, but afterwards it asks a few questions wich i can answer with yes/no:

1st: do you want a new config file created Yes
2nd: Windows was not found on your system, so I assume you want a Wine-only installation. Am I correct?
Yes
3rd: where would you have your fake c drive to be placed (default is /c): /c

Configuring Wine without Windows.
Some fake Windows directories must be created, to hold any .ini files, DLLs,
start menu entries, and other things your applications may need to install.
Where would you like your fake C drive to be placed?
(default is /c) /c
Configuring Wine for a no-windows install in /c...

Created /root/.wine/config using default Wine configuration.
You probably want to review the file, though.

Compiling regapi...
make: Nothing to be done for `all'.

Preparing to install default Wine registry entries...
Installing default Wine registry entries...

wine: exists lstat socket : No such file or directory
Registry install failed.

I cant get any solutions from the internet, and i would like to play Warcraft III so i can get rid of my windows installation!!!

Please help me out!!!!

Seems like no answers are coming, keep you posted if I find a solution

solved with: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5

HI again,
Temporary solution is: I ran winserver from the console. Then I could run winex. Only issue is the install did not sent up my wine.conf correctly, and also it does not install unless I specify a global config file (when the installer asks if you would like a local config file or a global...etc). The error it gives me pertains to "Not being able to install registry entries" (after it compiles these files). So, I resorted back to using an old winehq rpm for now.
BUT I WANT TO TRY WINEX, I heard it is great for games....

But I am using 2.6.8 would this option be appropriate for my setup?

I've found 3 issues:

1. The current CVS for WineX is broken, but can be fixed. You need to download the previous version of the file "miscemu/main.c".

2. On SuSE 9.2, the version of GCC supplied optimises-out some information in the dll files. Replacing -O2 with -O1 in the configure script solves this.

3. The "tools/wineinstall" script is VERY badly broken. It, apparently, hasn't been updated for about 2 years. I did kinda get it working, I think, but I've been trying so many different installation techniques that I'm not sure if it ACTUALLY worked... (altough, I do have the modifed script still...)

HI again,
Can you explain how to get the previous version of: "miscemu/main.c". Do I specify a different CVS root or something, or is this available off a FTP somewhere? Thanks.

Gaming in Linux

Something you may want to look into that is similar to Wine and Crossover is Cedega. Check it out at www.transgaming.com.

You can just browse the CVS (they have ViewCVS installed...), although, it's a moot point now - they fixed it; the configure file had not been updated to reflect the changes is all.

If you update the CVS it will now work.

Oh, BTW, I realise you don't need to edit the configure file - just pass CFLAGS=-O1 as a parameter, e.g.:

./configure --enable-sdldrv --with-x --enable-opengl CFLAGS=-O1

Big Bad D'OH!
