Unhappy Error compiling Module in Linux kernel

I get the following error when I tru to compile the module

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2/../../../crt1.o: In function _start:
..... undefine reference to main
...

is it expecting a main function ? I have another module with everything similar ...which compiles fine ...

thanks.

kernel 2.4.21

What version of the kernel are you trying to compile? kernel 2.4.21 is very buggy. If you are compiling 2.4.21 then I suggest that you apply kernel patches ac1, ac2, ac3, and ac4 and then try again.
