Smile Error:Application gnome-panel(precess 3644)


hi,
i am using Red hat 9,it was runnig nicely in graphical mode,but the last time i booted to the graphical mode after the wellcome window of red hat linux,it can't open the gnome desktop but there are defferent windows with this messages:
Can't display location:
"/" is not a valid location please check the spelling and try again.
"/root" is not a valid location please check the spelling and try again.
"/root/.gnome_desktop" is not a valid location please check the spelling and try again.
error: Application "gnome_panel"(process 3699" has crashed duo to fatal
error(aborted).
plz help me how i can solve this problem.
