Entering special chars with compose key doesn't work in all applications.
 

I have KDE 4.8, and using the compose key to enter special characters only works in Firefox and Thunderbird, not in many (perhaps all) KDE apps and LibreOffice. Why is this? Thanks

I do. I'm currently trying to understand what happens, and why. The thing is, here, the compose key actually works as intended, excepted that no character is written on the output...

I haven't tried it with many special characters in all apps, but this seems to be working for me in KDE 4.6.5:
System Settings => Input Devices => Keyboard => Advanced

Oh, sorry, I missed the KDE part. I'm using dwm... So I guess that my answer doesn't belong to this question... Anyway, if I find something, I'll tell you, since it could be (part of) the answer for you as well...
