Enlightenment & Gnome

I have recently installed E16 on my Gnome 2 desktop, and I really enjoy using it. I love the ability to save window positions and other attributes.

Anyway, the last time I used E was like 3 years ago, and I recall using it as my desktop manager as well. Now my question is general in nature, I am just curious how others use E, especially under Gnome. Do you also use the Gnome panel? I am getting used to the E pager and Icon aplet, I do miss the fact that windows that are NOT minimised but hidden underneath other window(s) don't appear in either the pager or Icon aplet...

How about some screen shots of your E desktops?

Enlightenment is absolutly the greatest window manager of all time! I did configure the gnome panel recently but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.

Here is my current Gnome 2 / E16 desktop. As you can see, I no longer use the gnome panel(s) for much other than application launch icons. All the current app's are minimised. The background is a render I produced today, especially for my desktop at 3200x1200 (I run 2 x 19" displays).

Scaled down to 1067x400

Fullsize 3200x1200

That sure must be nice! 2x19" displays! Nice shots too btw, you should add them to the screenshot thread in linux-general.

Cool

is enlightenment dead?

e was always ahead of its time. however it hasn't been updated in so long. is e17 even credible at this point? it'd be nice to see some RPMs someday...
