End Of File Key (EOF) in linux

hello all

can someone tell me how to type the EOF key when at the command line? some programs i have written for school depend on this value to work.

it would be the equivalent of CTRL + Z in DOS

thanks in advance!

I don't know if it inserts an EOF, though I assume it must. To end a 'cat > foo.txt' at least, it's ctrl-d instead of ctrl-z.
