enable /etc/fstab swaps takes 5 minutes on boot
 

I am a long time used of linux, but my knowledge of what happens on boot is rather limited. But as my title says, the time between when the system says enabling filesystem quotas [success] and enabling /etc/fstab swaps is at least 5 minutes, if not more.

I am using fedora 7 upgraded from fedora 6 without a reinstall. My kernel is probably a little stale right now, but I'm not at the computer in question, so I can't check it. I have upgraded a few times from the fedora 7 kernel. I am using the default partitioning scheme, which includes a swap partition.

Is there some way to find out what is taking so long? If I couldn't hear the hard drive thrashing, I'd think that the system was locked up. Anyone know a fix?

Fedora 7 did that to me on occasion. I would do a hard shutdown and it usually would re-boot normally. I'm not actually recommending it, but that's what I would do as I did not have the patience to wait that long for a complete boot up, which if I remember correctly...was still a turtle after waiting the 5+ minutes. A re-boot is inevitable.
But if yours does this on every boot up, you might want to send in a bug report to bugzilla and help the developers remedy the situation.
