Emerald theme not starting
Ok, I have compiz and emerald installed and all the settings that need to be set in the ccsm for emerald to work I opened up emerald theme manager and selected a theme, but when I run emerald --replace from a command prompt nothing happens, not sure if that's the right then to do to get it to load, but I can't really find any info when I google it.

hey friend. not sure if this will apply to your problem but here is what i have:
1>xfce4 2>fedora 12 > removed compiz with Code:
su -c 'yum remove compiz;rm -rf /home/$USER/.gconf/apps/compiz;yum install compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-gnome compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome compiz-manager gnome-compiz-manager ccsm fusion-icon fusion-icon-gtk emerald emerald-themes with xfce i also had to use the gnome dock plugin to make things real easy to get fusion-icon to load. that is for fedora so i guess it goes with out saying th epackagemanager you use will be based on your distro. come to think of it you may have to make sure you get the correct packages. I have time today to help you out if you want. EDIT: sorry your running slackware. so i am not sure if all the dependencies are in the repo for slackware. sorry for wasting your time. you could try searching for the above packages with slackpkg to see if it would be a issue with dependencies. anyways, i have used slack in the past but never with fusion icon. or emerald for that matter. |
Open up CCSM, click on, Window Decoration, on the General tab there is a command field. Enter 'emerald --replace' without the quotes, that should cause Emerald to start. Also make sure there is a check mark on Window Decoration.

is compiz running when you reboot or do you have to turn on again after reboot? sorry if i sound redundant.
|
also, have you tried saving your current settings file to another location and then resetting to default ( like a reset) then importing your old file?
|
also, are your other applications that you had running b4 your reboot starting back up ( i.e.: a music player) maybe your not saving session settings . if that is the case try looking in your into session save
