Embedded Links in OpenOffice Opening in Browser - Not Desired!

I'm having a problem with OpenOffice. I've asked for advice on another forum but am not getting much traction there. Perhaps I'll have better luck here at LQ.....seems like a knowledgeable bunch of folks frequent this place.

When I click on an embedded link in a document (said hyperlink being linked to a local file (jpeg) in this particular example), said picture opens in my browser, vice my jpeg viewer of choice (in this case, Ristretto).

It is happening on only one of my two computers. Each machine is loaded with Debian Squeeze and uses xfce4 for the desktop. One uses the amd64 repos and one uses the i386 repos. It is the i386 machine that is exhibiting the undesired behavior.

Here are two links that further explain the problem in more detail:

http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum...p?f=11&t=56725

http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum...263087#p263087

I've been beating my head against the wall and have had to adopt an ugly little hack (which see in the second of the two above links).

What is going on here?

Tell us more about your "browser"...

Hi Hab,

I had the problem when I had Chromium loaded on the i386 machine. I later removed Chromium and replaced it with Iceweasel. Same probem.

The amd64 machine, the one that does NOT display the problem, has Iceweasel loaded.

Thanks for your question!
