email server

Hi,
I have to following problem:

I have a new job as system admin.

I am on a network that has uses Windows Outlook Express on the clients, And microsoft servers. I want to replace the MS-servers with Linux.

Problem: The firewall we have blocks email traffic to all clients apparently, so I need to setup a Linux server that redirects incoming/outgoing email traffic to/from the clients (POP3).

I am a real newbie on linux I'm afraid.

I want to know if there is an 'out-of-the-box' solution for this. I need to know what appliation I must install to achieve this.

On my desk currently I have the following distros available:
1) redhad9 , 2)Susie9 3) Mandrake10

Does anyone know which distro/application would do the job?

Help very appreciated.
Patrick

Anyone please ,

I have webmin installed an running where I can use applications like fetchmail, postfix or sendmail.

I just don't know which one suits the job:

Basically I want to do the following within the Windows 'Workgroup' network:

-Linux server (IP 10.10.10.10)
-Client (e.g. IP 10.10.10.122), with an email 'myname@mydomain.nl'

Client, on send/receive mail button, get mail 'myname@mydomain.nl' from the linux server.

Could anyone give me a direction please?

greetings
Patrick

to retrieve email from a local mail server, you need to install imap and/or pop3 on the server.
