With the increasing amount of Spam and Viruses that are going around I want to add another 'layer' of protection between my desktop and ISP's mail server.

So what i want to know is, how do i setup the server on my linux machine so that it receives emails from my ISP mail server and then forwards them on to my machine (both linux and windows) so that I can then get the mail from another mail reader.....

I'm thinking that i'll need to setup the mail reader to get emails from my server, like POP/SMTP will be the address of my linux server, but how do i go about setting up the linux server to connect to my email account on my isp and download messages and then run them through SpamAssassin, Virus Scanner and have them ready to be forwarded, relayed....
