Email clients?
Does anybody know of a good email client other than kmail?
I'm having a hard getting kmail to work. Any suggestions?? |
Maybe Sylpheed? I've got a slightly older version currently installed and it is nice and fast. The only problem is that it doesn't like to copy into other apps (like Opera or Gaim). It just randomly quits. I'm thinking that either they fixed it in the latest version (.97 or something) or its something wrong with my install...elvis doesn't like to copy between seperate instances.

I use the Opera web browser and thier M2 email client. Works GREAT!

I'll try that.
But the funny thing is I don't have a problem with kmail anymore :D lol, lol,lol, lol,lol, lol,lol, lol,lol, lol |
Mozilla Thunderbird http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/download.html

I'm not gonna use thunderbird for 3 reasons :
1. It's too bloated. 2. It always positions your cursor beneath the text you are going to reply to.(Which is annoying) 3. It won't work in slackware :( |
1. I'm running Mozilla, and while it's certainly full-featured, I don't consider it bloated. I guess that's a fine line.
2. Among the 'bloat' is a way of setting 'preferences', it's located under the edit button on the toolbar. If you go to 'Mail & Newsgroups' --> 'Composition', you can select: a. start my reply above the quoted text. b. start my reply below the quoted text. c. select the quoted text. 3. I'm running Slackware 9. Enjoy! --- Cerbere |
I'm a fan of Evolution. To me its not bloated but if you are going for just 'the basics' i guess it could be. The Evolution+pgp support+spamassassin combo works great for my needs.

How did you get thunderbird to work?

If you question isn't answered by the time I get home I'll look it up for you :). |
Ok.
I'll try what you said and see if it works :) Thanks |
Oh, and after you update the ld.so.conf, you have to run ldconfig to update it. I think those two enviroment variables were in /etc/profile. Depending on what distro you have, that may be a different file, like bashrc or something. YAY! I'm getting the hang of this linux thing :D.

I recommend sylpheed claws, which is said to be even slimmer than normal sylpheed.
and it workes with slackware :D |
