I'm having difficulty sending attachments in kmail and mozilla mail. I originally started another thread (that I will forward to here) thinking kmail was the culprit...but the story line has changed.

Here's what I know:

1) Both mozilla & kmail fail to send certain attachments. In fact, these attachments fail to send if I log into my web mail interface (same account) in mozilla and try to send.

2) These attachments that fail have some common ground. They are old windows files (docs, xls, jpg) that I stored on a cdrom and moved to a /data ext3 partition when I converted to linux. I can view the jpgs and open the others in OO.

3) If I create a new *.doc using OO, that doc will send just fine.

Here's what I think I know:

1) It appears only files with a windows history seem to have the problem.

Here's what I need to know:

1) Any ideas? I know when I setup vim on linux I had to convert my plugin files from dos to unix format...is there something similar for non-text files?

2) Meaning of life :-) haha

Thanks!

Could this be a '.' on a single line that is encoded in the attachment that would tell SMTP to stop sending?

Or maybe the fact that M$ usea a non-standard Latin-1 derivative to encode text? Maybe the fact that these documents were created in winblows with a non-standard text encoding makes them fail to transfer as an attachment. Anyone think this could be the case?

Thanks!
