Emacs info missing Emacs topic

Hi

I'm stumped. I have Emacs 24.3 installed under Cygwin and under Fedora 19.

When I start up Emacs under Cygwin and do C-h i get to the directory node where it among other things tells me to press "mEmacs<Return>". Which works. I can see the menu item as the second item under Emacs under *Menu:

However when I do the same under Fedora I get the same directory node and the suggestion to press "mEmacs<Return>" which does not work. The first item under *Menu: is Archiving. The whole Emacs section is missing.
I can however choose "View Emacs Manual" from the welcome screen and I get to "The Emacs Editor" info.

Can anyone tell me why its not in the directory node? It's really annoying because I'm a struggling new Emacs user, and I need it there for quick reference.

Thanks.

Here's a couple things you might try:

Use -q on the command line to avoid loading any init file. If it works, then you have either a site file or something in ~/.emacs that's causing a conflict.

Use M-x toggle-debug-on-error to get a backtrace.

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested, but since this is a completely new install I wouldn't think -q has any effect. I couldn't see any difference when I started with it.

I don't understand what M-x toggle-debug-on-error does. Is it perhaps supposed to write to the *Messages* buffer or something?

I tried removing Emacs and downloading the sources instead and compile from them. Now I have the full Emacs section in the directory node. Maybe the Fedora repository doesn't include the info docs for it?
