Emacs increasing default Fontsize

Hi there
How do I incease the font size on emacs as a default setting. I am doing this,
Edit, type face, click on default, increased height to 124 points, state, save current session, save future session and then finish. now when I relaunh it I still get the same small size font.
My settings are not saved, though it says that it has saved.
Thanks
SS

This doesn't answer your question but it's what I do to start emacs with a larger font:

emacs -fn 9x15

larger sizes are 10x20 & 12x24, xlsfonts lists a bunch of different fonts

from "man emacs" ...

you can write a .Xresources file with the following entry...

emacs.font:9x15

and then it will be forever ... ; - )

yes, that worked after I figured out to load the .Xresources file with:

xrdb -load .Xresources

thanks for the tip

It's a bit odd that you should have to do
that manually...
xdm's Xsession and all /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc*
should do that automagically for you.

Cheers,
Tink
