emacs has changed how it treats tabs and indentation in version 24.4
I upgraded emacs to version 24.4 yesterday. Tabs, indentation, and how format treats indented lines changed. I can't find any setting that makes them work they way they have previously.
I want tab at the beginning of a line to indent (for text files); for script or program files I want it to indent when used anywhere on a line. emacs stopped doing this, even when it recognizes the file type.
I want format to respect a tab at the beginning of a line as a paragraph break; emacs 24.4 stops doing this.
I've looked at every setting about tabs and indentation. They have either disappeared or don't work as described. I just switched back to 24.3.
The changelog doesn't show this change.
