ekiga voip problem
Hi Folks - I have just started using ekiga voip package. I have a difficulty with a few aspects and I would be grateful for any help.
I run KDE desktop and configure my sound stuff with kmix. I have a soundblaster audigy audio card with microphone and speakers plugged into it. It plays cds fine. I run Deb 4.0 as a desktop box, which is connected to a router for internet access. Another machine runs the dreaded windows thingy and has a sip compatible programme for voip. We have tried calling each other from separate rooms within our house to test the system and it allows connection but the voice quality is very poor indeed. Also the microphone on the Deb 4.0 m/c does not work for the call (although it feeds back to the speakers - i.e. the sound card is able to produce good quality sound from the mic to the local speakers. Is there anything I can try to a) get the mic to work with ekiga b) improve the sound quality. I'm not sure what information to give here, so if I've missed anything, please let me know and I'll post more. Many thanks, Greeb |

Skype
I originally thought of Skype, but turned away when I found it wasn't sip compatible.
I just need to get my mic working and I think the rest will fall into place. Greeb |
