eh quake making me mad:(

ok well... i am having a problem running quake3a ok ill open up a shell and type quake3 witch runs quake3 ok after i do this the res changes i get a black screen and it logs my out of linux i dont know what the error is becuase it logs me out right away so i can look in the sheel for the error anyone know what could be going on any help would be great also my vid card is voodoo5 5500 is that helps lol

Well to be able to read the error output you could start it up and redirect the output to the file. Something like:

quake3a > output

You can then view the contents of output to see what went wrong. Also a good place to look for errors is the /var/log directory. Often you will get a few more clues there too.
