eek! My KDE is haunted

I don't know why but I'm getting a few very annoying problems in KDE.
Firstly, the desktop icons keep moving around, I set them where I want but next time I startup it's like someone has pushed them up the screen so the top 2 or 3 icons spread out across the screen.
Secondly, I changed my icon theme to see if it helped the above problem which it didn't and decided I didn't like the theme so I switched back to my default and now all the icons in the Konqueror folder view panes, which I normally have at 48x48 have shrunk to 16x16 and nothing I try gets them back to the original size. I've tried changing the icon sizes in control centre and all other icons in KDE change sizes but those folder panes in Konqueror are stuck at the tiny size.
Thirdly, still with Konqueror, the toolbars keep re-arranging themselves - the odd icon will appear on the toolbar then it will be gone next time I launch it and it's the same with the google search bar, that also appears on the toolbar sometimes but not others. It happens with both the web browser and file manager profiles, I've tried re-setting the toolbars and saving the profiles but it makes no difference.
And finally, items in the Kmenu occasionally disappear and new items appear, I'm talking about submenus, not individual items. I have never edited the menu at all so it's nothing I've done, though I must admit it hasn't happened for a few days. When I had Knoppix installed, this menu issue happened a lot.

Can anyone help me exorcise my haunted desktop?

By the way, it's a Kanotix/Debian install and the first and fourth issues have been happening since I installed, the second and third have happened just recently.

You may as well read through this Thread as it goes on to describe the various problems ppl have been having with KDE. I myself am sick of the icons moving around. They say it is a 'minor' bug, but it may be minor but as one fellow says: It certainly "makes a bad impression the the KDE 'newcomer'". My sentiments exactly, but I don't feel this is a minor bug if only for what was in that quote! Oh well.. if you figure out the icon moving around problem let me know how you resolved it! (The method of turning off auto 'align to grid' doesn't work for me!)

About two years ago 'twas tech joke:
"My icons are moving arong on their own accord! What do I do?
Hmmm. Check your proc. Perhaps you have an extra user."
Actually this joke has a point. Maybe your box is breached. Check on it

About the icons moving...this is a common problem.

Right click your desktop

Goto icons

Make sure "Align to grid" is checked.

Arrange your icons how you want them.

Now Uncheck "Align to grid".

Restart KDE.

This worked for me.

As I have said, this 'fix' doesn't work for most including me.

They don't come back up as badly mangled but still messed up nonetheless.

Hmmmm...fixed mine, yet if I had long file names...it like...pushed the icons over a bit? I just renamed my folders..

Hopefully this is fixed in 3.4
