Editing XMP metadata in AVI files

Hey,

Is there a tool to edit XMP metadata in AVI files for Linux? I found that this XMP metadata editor can do it, but it's a Win only tool.

Thanks

The Wikipedia page on XMP lists several tools.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensi...and_acceptance

The big question is which, if any, of these tools will work on XMP data embedded in .avi files. I like exiftool, for example, but while its man page says it handles XMP, it says it's read-only for .avi, so I don't know if it will work.

According to the entry above, the key question concerning support seems to be not with the XMPCore itself, but with the XMPFiles library that's used to embed them in different file types, which it says is not currently available for linux.

Greetingz!

Are you sure you mean XMP metadata? There's a list of read/writers over on WikiPedia, but the specification seems to have been originally limited to image files.

You could give Exempi a shot, as it says it can embed XMP into MOV and AVI files. Note that it doesn't seem to be able to rip out the existing XMP data, so you might have to find something that can strip it out in the first place.

XMP in mainly used for image files, but it can also be used for video and audio files.
I was hoping that there would be a simple GUI app for editing XMP in AVI's. None of the tools in the Wiki article seem to support it, and most of them are for Windows anyway.
Thanks for your help.
