Editing fstab

Hello,
in my attempt to have Fedora Core 3 (FC3) see my cd-rom I've received advice that I might try the command: cat /etc/fstab

The result is informative in that I'm told I need to use fstab-sync to edit the fstab file.
Below is a copy of the error message I receive:

[root@localhost etc]# fstab-sync --add=UDI
libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: Disconnected prior to receiving a reply
libhal.c 911 : Error sending msg: Disconnected prior to receiving a reply
libhal.c 704 : Error removing match rule, error=Disconnected prior to receiving a reply
[root@localhost etc]# ls -l /mnt
total 0

Any suggestions please?

I've always done this the old fashioned way

vi /etc/fstab
