Edit midi like wav/mp3

Is there any program for linux (or that runs in wine?) that can edit a midi file like you can edit a wave in audacity?

I guess the answer is no because midi files are nothing more than computer code that is executed by your sound card. Midi files can be edited with a score editor, which allows you to completely change any detail in the midi file, even delete all the music and write it again (if you know how to write music in a score), but this is not similar to a wave editor.

It should be doable at least, I know of a windows program called Anvil Studio that lets you truncate midis to specific sections.

Yes, this is possible. It could be done with a score editor as I said. I only know rosegarden, but I am sure there are lots of score editors for linux.
