EasyTag crash in Ubuntu 14.04 when opening folders

Hey everyone,

I have noticed that a lot of my software tends to crash when it attempts to browse to folders on the computer. PuddleTag crashes when I attempt to browse for music files, dBpoweramp (Wine) the same, etc. I am wondering what's causing this, and how I can get verbose output from the program.

Thanks,
Kogami

Does this happen with any folder, or only your music folder? Are there any programs that never crash?

my first step would be to start the program from a terminal and see what error messages i get.

I already tried getting verbose output, no luck. Neither PuddleTag nor EasyTag gives any useful debug from the terminal.

- look for some verbose switch or logfile for easytag
- read the man pages (and/or other documentation, often found in /usr/doc) for easytag or puddletag
- look at Xorg log files after the crash (/var/log/Xorg.*) (i can never quite remember which one is for the previous session, hence the asterisk)
