e-mail server. Want to use client app to retrieve mail

I have a fully functional e-mail server, using Squirrelmail as it's UI.

by user request, I'd like to enable email users to login via there local MUA (such as Evolution / Outlook Express).

I have not yet come across any documents at tldp.org to help aid in the installation/modification of the network to allow this. Can someone point me in the right direction?

The e-mail users are not local but connect via the internet.

Squirrelmail is a webmail system, isnt it? I dont think you can access it via a normal MUA. Sorry.

I got it working. All i had to do was allow port 143 (imap) in iptables.

talk about easy!
