Unhappy E-mail and Catching SPAM

Another Nooby here shedding my dependancy to Windows. I am just about finished getting my linux boxes up and running and dropping windows all togeather and I have a few questions and I am looking for some help.

I am running Evolution for my e-mail and of course I am getting a ton of SPAM. On my Win box I had a program called Ihate Spam which filtered most if not all of my Spam. I am looking for a Spam catcher for my e-mail. My business relies heavily on e-mail usage and I am tired of getting all this stuff and having to sift through it.

I am running Mandrake 10 Official. Using Evolution, However I am not set on using Evolution. I have thought about Kontact, Mozilla, or Opera. I guess whatever I could use that works the best?

Now being the noob that I am. If someone would so kind as to setting up this SPAM blocker?

And if someone is looking for a free Steak Dinner, Yes Steak Dinner. I will by some lucky person a steak dinner if they can get my Quick Books Pro 2003 to work on my machine or I should say, provide me directions and assistance to get it running on my box.

These are the last hurdle(s) I must over come to drop Windows totally.

Thanks

John

I'm gonna jump in on this one, as I'm both still a pretty big noob and could use similar advice. I'm no business, but still hate spam.
I relied (rely?) on Mailwasher, which made for a nice way to filter email from the server without worrying about losing stuff I care about. I'd like to find something similar to Mailwasher for Linux. Failing that, I'll just follow whatever comes down teh pike.

You might look at Thunderbird. Thats what I settled on.

Today I got about 175 emails. 3 were from my daughter, 1 from my tailor, 27 from 1 newsgroup I read, 3 from another and the rest were marked as junk because they met the criteria of a set of filters I installed and were sent to the trash can for deletion.

See the link in my signature for a really nice HOWTO on evolution and spamassassin. It tagges about 94% of all my spam.
