DVD to AVI (or something similar) + substitles

Hi all,

Is there anyway i can convert a dvd to an avi file including subtitles?

background info: I watch a lot of burned DVD's, but my dvd player has an usb connection (plays avi's etc) so to spare empty dvd's i decided to buy a large usb stick and put the movies on it. But to do that, i have to convert the dvd's to avi's with subs.

Thanks in advance!

If you need a GUI, try OGMRip, works well.

dvdrip is my personal choice It does depend upon some Medibuntu packages.
It can rip DVD's to avi, manage subtitles etc.etc

This assumes use of Ubuntu as your OS
