dvd-slideshow: when playing output video with mplayer width is too large

Hi all,

I'm trying to make a slideshow of photos (with dvd-slideshow) but I'm a bit confused with the resolution of output file.

As far as I know, PAL 4/3 is 720x576 but analogic PAL on TV is 768x576, thus a scaling factor of 1.0664 is applied in X axis when playing something:

720 * 1.0664 = 768

My photos are 1024*768 (aspect ratio = 1.33), I was specting dvd-slideshow to scale them to 720*576 (aspect ratio = 1.25) so when playing the video it would be scaled to 768*576 (1.33)

In fact, when playing the output video mplayer says something like this:

resolution = 720*576, scaling to 768*576

But, at this point the video is ver wide (> 900px width). No way 720 or 768, It is far larger.

What's wrong? What am I missing?

Thak you a lot.
