[SOLVED] DVD+RW and k3b

I am having trouble getting k3b to erase (completely) my DVD+RW so I can use it repeatedly, like I used to do with Nero 6 and Windows XP.

Any suggestions? Anyone know of any other DVD burning programs like k3b for LINUX?

you can erase DVD RW and CD RW in K3B

it's a function in the taskbar

...going to the "tools" list, and selecting the "erase CD-RW" option? I tried that, but I get a message that says:

"Waiting for Disk"

"Found media DVD+RW (complete)
"Please insert a rewriteable CD medium into drive ASUS DRW-0402P/D (/dev/hdd).

My options are: a) load, b) eject, c) force and d) cancel.

Since I don't want to mess anything up...I always hit cancel. K3b did the same thing to me before I updated it too.

Unless, of course....I am looking at the wrong menu / taskbar / etc.

You want the format DVD option. I've had some problems getting it to work sometimes though.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it acts like it worked but it doesn't. I'm not sure why.

Some command line tools I use when K3B doesn't work are cdrecord(newer versions also handle dvd), cdrecord-dvd and dvd+rw-format.
