I suggest vobcopy over dvd::rip and acid::rip because it makes a near mirror copy very fast. I only suggest dvd::rip to convert it to an avi file because it uses transcode which has excellent audio and video sync. The program acid::rip uses mplayer which is poor when keeping audio and video sync.

Just to clarify it's actually acidrip.. there's no :: in the name..

I use acidrip to convert my dvd's and such to avi format and never have any problems with audio and video sync..

Thanks for the posts, I have used transcode in the past. Excellent piece of software if you ask me.
